You'll need to setup wine (http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX) and launch Renegade through Wine to play on a Mac.
Note that Wine is not officially supported for Renegade. I don't know if anyone has actually tested TT 4.2 on Mac+Wine.

This should be fixed now. Someone installed a "beta" Imperial Age package on the test server while it was linked to the main server. They forgot to unlink it before installing.

The "+multi" switch basically allows you to run multiple copies of Renegade. This is useful if you also run a copy of the FDS on the same machine and wish to play in it.
