another list gave me this answer..
Check in your Renegade folder if the file VFS.dll is present, if you can't find it it's possible that your antivirus deleted it. I'm not quite sure if this file is tied to TT's scripts or if it's in the core files, but you'll need to reinstall either the latest scripts, or the whole game.
This guy was successful in solving his VFS problems by reinstalling c++ redistributable x86 package on W10, take a look maybe?

then reinstalled scripts... then made sure renlist linked to game2.exe, not game.exe
i think it was my virus program

trying to get in game... get error 'failed to open vfs'

I've been able to get in game.. i thought antivirus was causing issues... but even if it is off.. when I come in, often at first I get a gameplay pending, and then broken connection (or I quit before that happens) then when i re enter, all works ok... until next time that i try to sign into the server this does not happen in other ren servers, just MPF

for some reason.. all of a sudden my antivirus program seems to block playing... i've tried panda, avira, Avg, norton, bitdefender.... all the same results

I still use renlist, but it is buggy... anyone use another launcher? or is there a new site to load renlist... current one in this forum has a dead link

Dont know what is happening.. cant get into ren.... removed game, reinstalled... now I need map packs... thought I had copy.. still looking.. but I do not see it on this site (or it is not working)

I know I have not been around much... life has been busy. I understand it if I no longer have mod status at this point. But... since I can't get into admin channel, I also cannot authenticate myself. Starting to play more, recently, until now.(at least on this server)... since I cannot auth. any help?

any idea whats going on with renlist

well... irc working fine today... i didnt do a think to it. It s been working for the past few hours. Usually it would kick out in half an hour or less.

Recently it seems like I can only stay in IRC or TS for a matter of a few minutes, or sometimes an hour or two...then I get a disconnect and/or a kick. As a mod, then I have to unban myself from IRC, re enter, etc. However it does not affect my ingame status, unless I log out of the game. I thought it might be the computer, or my version of IRC and TS... (I usually run both on an old laptop next to my main computer). But today I tried to use updated software on my main computer for IRC and TS... same result.... ???? Rob aka trumpetbum
