Nah i downloaded mine. You can pretty much get it free anywhere now. You will probably will share a serial with other people but that shouldn't matter too much, i do with mine.

I dunno how to fix your issue i would have suggested running it in compatibility mode but seeing as you have already done that not sure. I am currently running ren on windows 10.

I used to run it on my MBook Air until I sold it.

I had parallels tho so I could run Windows and OS at the same time. 

I have seen some videos on utube on how to run it directly on your IMac so maybe start there.
