Story and Gamemode Renegade X is set in the near future, in a world dominated by a contagious yet valuable resource called Tiberium. The Global Defense Initiative (GDI) is an international security force set to combat global terrorism. Conceived as a united peacekeeping military force, GDI depends on the technological sophistication of its weaponry, and the superior training and loyalties of its officers. GDI looks to halt the spread of Tiberium, which is gradually destroying the Earth and killing off millions of people. At the same time, the Brotherhood of Nod, led by the charismatic leader known only as Kane, grew to prominence. Working largely in third world countries, wherever there was discontent and unrest, there was Kane. With the promise of a New World Order and bankrolled by the illicit Tiberium research and trade that Kane made famous, Nod began to gain power. A few scattered, disaffected units grew into an army with powerful atomic weaponry, ruthless tactics, and a Tiberian fortune. The Brotherhood aims to push humanity into the next stage of evolution via Tiberium mutation. Where GDI stands for international stability and the removal of the Tiberium contagion, Nod seeks to overthrow the established order and build a world centred on Tiberium research. To learn more about Command and Conquer mode, check out the short tutorial video below: What’s next? We discussed some of our thoughts on the future of Renegade X in our previous update: http://www.renegade-x.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=74009 What we can say is that Totem Arts will continue working on and updating Renegade X. We have a few new maps in the works (including remakes of Under and Complex!), and a new gamemode in the planning stages. We’re excited with what the future has in store. For now, Beta 3 was a necessary step towards having a stable game and a stable community. There have been over 200 fixes and changes since our previous version, as well as two new maps, two new special items, and new art. We are a free game, and therefore we do not have an advertising budget. Renegade X relies completely on word-of-mouth, so please do whatever you can to spread the news. Upload a beta mirror, e-mail a gaming site or magazine, record a YouTube video, post about us on reddit and other forums, and be sure to tell your friends! The bigger our playerbase is, the more work we can put into the game. With that said, we do aspire to become a Steam game, but we cannot do so without EA’s expressed permission. We have been trying to get to the EA licensing manager, but so far unsuccessfully. If you have any ideas on how Renegade X can become a Steam game, post them in the comments! If you know anyone from EA, point them in our direction please! That’s all for now! We’re looking forward to seeing you all again. Let us know what you think – connect with us and the community through our website, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Soon enough, you’ll be hearing from us again. But for now, enjoy the game! http://www.renegade-x.com https://www.facebook.com/CNCRenX?ref=hl https://twitter.com/RenXGame http://www.youtube.com/user/NEfobbyGEN/videos
  5. Optimizations: - Weapon Texture resolutions have been reduced to a max of 1024x1024. - Unnecessary textures due to shader optimization such as Gloss maps and reflection maps have been removed. - 3rd person weapon meshes now only have a single material slot for a single draw call. - All mesh LODs for 3rd person weapons have been updated. - First person arms mesh now uses a combined single texture map / material for less draw calls. Possible crash reduction. - Fixed the PT UI memory crash. - Restore enemy minimap blip visibily when targeting. - 1st person reloading animation no longer gets overridden by sprinting animation. - 1st person sprinting animation should now automatically play after switching to a different weapon whilst sprinting. - Fixed clients not seeing and hearing Airstrike aircraft if the Airstrike target area was out of sight. - Fixed being able to continue to repair 100% Friendly Tech Buildings. - Fixed Apache rockets being fired from the gun socket when playing as a client on a dedicated server. - Fixed Missile Launcher first person clipping through camera in some resolutions - Main Menu map will no longer show aspect ratio bars - Fixed lighting on the mammoth tank in the main menu - Fixed an issue that would cause spy crates to not set the spy flag if it changed your pawn (ie, going from non-SBH character to SBH and vice versa). - Fixed not being able to heal armour if the heal had 0 armour. - Fixed potential occurrence of being able to heal someone who is dead if they still had some armour when they died. - Fixed issue with beacons destroying buildings that they are very far by using the bounding - Fixed issue where player’s weapon ammo count did not update after leaving vehicles - Fixed infinite reserve ammo infantry weapons not showing as infinite in multiplayer. - Fixed respective ammo counters not updating when switching to a weapon with 0 usable or reserve ammo - Fixed SBH not lighting up properly when getting shot while cloaked - Fixed Stealth tank not lighting up properly when getting shot while cloaked - Fixed Stank often being and staying visible from any distance after getting shot Tweaks: - Added 60 second per-client cooldown for calling votes, so grievers can't prevent others from calling votes. - Vehicle explosions no longer do damage. - Added TeamDonate command. - Entering 0 into a Donate command now donates all credits. - Slight change to the client list output to make it easier for people parsing. - Restored playing Building Repaired sound. 6. Future updates to do with Renegade-X will be posted here along with a complete changelog.
  7. Hey guys! It's been a long time since we've had an update, but there's a lot of exciting news that we'd like to share with you today. Beta 3 is coming out on October 8th! The long-awaited evolution of Renegade X is coming out in 8 days! After several months of working, testing, and of course, playing our previous beta on the side, we're finally ready to push a new beta build. After beta 3, we will continue working on Renegade X - we've got a lot of exciting stuff coming up for later updates. So, for Beta 3, you can expect to see the following: • Brand new Renegade X launcher! • New map: C&C Volcano • New items: AT mines and EMP grenades • New Black Hand character model • Crash fixes • New UI features (interactive pause-menu and scoreboard) • End-game sequences • Oodles of balance changes and fixes for weapons and vehicles • New first-person animations for some weapons • Audio changes (silo capturing is now broadcasted, weapon and vehicle sound changes) • Texture, LOD, and shader optimizations – game runs much smoother • TeamDonate command • Weapon and vehicle reticle changes • Many glitch fixes • And much more! Beta 3 will be available for FREE at http://www.renegade-x.com on October 8th 2014. What else is up? We at Totem Arts have been developing Renegade X for over 7 years. In that time, we released several RenX Unreal Tournament 3 alphas, a standalone singleplayer game, and two standalone multiplayer betas. We've come a long way - this game has matured, and so have we. As a free project, it’s difficult to give Renegade X all of the time and attention that it needs to hit its climax in success. Still, we plan to do everything in our power to support our community and empower those who can help us in that goal. For the next version of Renegade X (after Beta 3), we will be developing several new maps – including remakes of some of our favourite classics – and we will begin working on a new gamemode, which will be discussed at a later time. We realize that our players have dwindled significantly since our February release: we went from having 400-1000 players on at a time to just 40-80 players. You can still catch a good game of Renegade X at almost any part of the day, but we want to have a large, thriving, self-sufficient community. Perhaps the biggest cause of the population shrink is the crashing, which became too annoying for many people to bear. We believe we have fixed those problems. Another cause was ingame exploits, and we’ve since developed some countermeasures to the use of exploits. A third reason is that C&C mode – which is very different from what gamers are used to nowadays – perhaps did not appeal to some of the newcomers. While many FPS games are based on k/d ratios and capturing flags, Renegade X is about defending and destroying bases, which is radically different from the mainstream. Renegade X is not for everybody, but we are exploring ways to gain new audiences while retaining our roots. Volcano The new and improved Volcano is complete, and it will be available in Beta 3. Check it out below! Black Hand Sniper! Check out the new Black Hand. Looks a lot better than a painted SBH, right? EMP grenades We’ve added a new purchasable item in Beta 3 that will be available to both GDI and Nod. The EMP grenade is a C4-replacement that freezes the vehicles in its radius for a few seconds. While the vehicles would still have access to their guns, they cannot move as long as the EMP effect remains. AT mines The new AT mine is an anti-armour C4-replacement. A player can deploy a maximum of two AT mines, which have the firepower of a remote-C4. However, these mines can be destroyed by enemy weapons. New Tiberium Flechette Model Capturing a Tiberium Silo gives your team the ability to purchase a Tiberium Flechette. We have created a new model - check it out! -- And that is all for today. Be sure to download Beta 3 on October 8th, and to stay tuned for more Renegade X news! Oh, and by the way, happy Rene-birthday X! September 30th was the day that we released our very first Renegade X alpha for Unreal Tournament 3 back in 2009. So we wish you fun times ahead and many presents to come Stay connected: http://www.renegade-x.com https://www.facebook.com/CNCRenX?ref=hl https://twitter.com/RenXGame http://www.youtube.com/user/NEfobbyGEN/videos
  8. MPF would like to introduce alexStats. Ren-x.com Slaughterhouse server stats (alexStats) are independent from the RenegadeX global stats system and are only for the server you play on, you will not need steam to be apart of the stats unlike the current RenegadeX global stats were only steam users are logged. The system also provides live server status allowing you to see who is in game, map, time remaining and current building status from the website. alexStats has just been enabled on both Slaughterhouse #1 and Slaughterhouse #2 servers, see if you have what it takes to be Number 1. Ranks have just been reset to give everyone a fair chance. 9. Renegade X - Open Beta 2 is now available! DOWNLOAD HERE: http://renegade-x.com/download Our first post-launch game update is now here and addresses a huge number of changes and fixes! You'll have to download this update manually as the auto-patcher is still in the works. Your game will notify you if it is out of date. This is a full release, not a patch. This is due to a major change in how the game compiles; it will now use much less memory and prevent several game crashes. It is recommended that you uninstall Open Beta 1 before installing Open Beta 2. Check out the complete change list HERE. This is only the beginning and we have many more updates planned for the future which will include new maps, tech buildings, game modes and more! Thank you all for the enormous amount of support and feedback you guys have given us; it keeps us motivated to constantly deliver a more enjoyable experience! source > http://www.renegade-x.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&p=126980#p126980

  12. Hello people: Moderator Applications are now OPEN. We are looking for some good moderators to look after the three 64 player servers we will be running. It does not matter where you are coming from as long as your English is (very) good enough. We will run a 64 player server running on Xeon systems in The United States, The Netherlands and France. We're in the process of creating our generic rules so you can help with that if interested. Please note that the use of mIRC is required and Teamspeak 3 is recommended although optional. Thanks for applying!

  16. Renegade X - Release Date Unveiled (Trailer) Check out our latest trailer below! http://www.renegade-x.com The End is the Beginning The news that you've all been patiently waiting for has arrived. Renegade X is a free multiplayer Tactical FPS game that will be released on February 26, 2014. The release will coincide with the 12th birthday of C&C Renegade. Renegade X is not an ordinary game. We are bringing the popular "Command & Conquer" RTS series to ground level as a large-scale team-based tactical shooter. Players will be able to fight for two unique teams - the Global Defense Initiative (GDI), a UN international military force committed to world order and peacekeeping, and the Brotherhood of Nod, a messianic international terrorist network that aims to push humanity into the next stage of human evolution. Players will be able to manage their own economies, choose from over 30 weapons, 15 vehicles, and call in nuclear strikes, Ion Cannons, and airstrikes, and much more. Each team will have a base of operations that composes of several key structures. Each structure has its own purpose. For example, the GDI Barracks gives GDI players access to special weapons and characters. If the Barracks is destroyed by Nod forces, GDI will lose the ability to purchase these special weapons. We believe that this gamemode - "Command & Conquer Mode" - can potentially revolutionize the FPS genre. It is the gem that went unnoticed for many years. Now is the time to uncover it. Release Date Renegade X version 1.0 will be released on February 26th, 2014. Our journey began in 2007 - we released five betas for Unreal Tournament 3 in 2009 and 2010, and we released our singleplayer campaign Black Dawn in 2012. Our original promise was to release Renegade X version 1.0 in 2013. The game went into its private beta phase in June 2013. We then decided to postpone the release from December to February, as the team believes that an additional few weeks of polishing is necessary. We'd like to deliver a stable and balanced game, and the extra development and testing time would produce that. We realize that this may disappoint some fans, but keep in mind that we are a non-profit team working on this game on our spare time. Our team has had six successful releases in the past, and we have always launched on time. This will be the first time that we postpone the game's deadline. The closure of Victory Games (EALA) is definitely a factor in our delay. Without going into much detail, Victory Games was going to provide a supportive role in advertisement, distribution, and server and client-side features. Now that Victory Games has closed, we have a few more tasks on our hands. The multiplayer release will be a beta. That means that although all core features will be in the game, it will not be the finished product. We plan on releasing patches, new maps, and new features throughout 2014. You will be able to post your suggestions for the game and issues with the game, and we will address all of them. With a game as large scale as Renegade X, a public beta is necessary to iron out any glitches and balance fixes that are necessary. We will be pumping out a lot of news, videos, interviews, and updates from now until release. Can you keep up with us? You are more than welcome to ask any questions either on this thread or on our Forums: http://www.renegade-x.com/forums/ Other news The leader of Nod's "Black Hand" special forces is this man: Gideon Raveshaw. General Raveshaw is a short, cold, unforgiving man. He possesses unmatched charisma and intelligence. The name "Gideon" is Hebrew for "Mighty Warrior"... that's pretty befitting for a man wielding a railgun that is almost his own size. Check him out. Mendoza Carlos Mendoza is mercenary who came to Nod after his methods became too extreme even for the extremists he was working for. He stays in General Raveshaw's employ due to the amount of money he receives for his services. Mendoza has a very confident and arrogant fighter, often insulting his enemies during firefights and gloating. He carries the electrifying Volt Autorifle. Sniper Rifle Here is the new and improved 500-credit sniper rifle. Shiny. Sidearm Weapon Reveal In Renegade X, all characters spawn with a default silenced pistol. We will be giving players the option to customize their weapon loudout. Advanced characters will be given the option to exchange their silenced pistol for either the Machine Pistol, a short-ranged fast-firing weapon, or the Heavy Pistol, a handgun with incendiary armour-piercing rounds. We will be discussing other secondary weapon customization options in later updates. X-Mountain Kenz, one of our beta testers, has begun working on Renegade X's first fanmap, "X-Mountain". The first version of X-Mountain was featured in the UT3 version of Renegade X back in 2009. It quickly became a favourite, and now Kenz is working on a remake for the upcoming release. It's looking really good, check it out below. Keep an eye out We're very excited to be finally releasing Renegade X version 1.0. This is the summation of seven years of hard work. The game is finally playing the way we want it to, and it brings a grin to all of our faces. We'd like to thank you all for your continued support! See you on the battlefield. 18. Whoo! It's been 4 months since we've put out any updates for our upcoming indie FPS game, Renegade X. We've been in our corner tinkering with the game, working on new assets, and having a blast in test sessions. Honestly, we just forgot about yall. Oops? Today we'd like to discuss a huge list of items. Let's start! Stuff Renegade X is a tactical FPS game for the Unreal Development Kit. It is a shooter with RTS elements, and it will feature tons of weapons, vehicles, maps, and two unique factions. Our singleplayer demo is available for download, and our multiplayer version will be out later this year. The game is shaping up. All of the base components are there, and we have been playtesting for months. There is a lot of polishing that is necessary, and that has been our main focus for a while. We've been working on the netcode to overcome lag issues, which hinder the fluidity of the game. We've also been refining and fine tuning the experience - re-adjusting game values to bring Renegade X up to date whilst maintaining its arcadey classic-FPS feel. RypelCam is back! RypelCam is a custom software that allows players to take images and record and watch interactive videos of the game. You'll be able to rewatch recorded games at whatever angle you want, slow things down, quicken things up, and make some really awesome trailers. Let that be a hint at our next media update [ ] Currently, Renegade X has seven core maps (Mesa, Field, Islands, Hourglass II, Lakeside, Goldrush, Walls_Flying), all of the core buildings, all of the core weapons and vehicles, a skirmish mode with customizable bots, superweapons, and much more. Railgun We finally got down to doing a new railgun which is not an amalgamation of other weapons put together! This weapon was a GDI prototype that was confiscated by Raveshaw's Black Hand special ops teams. The weapons were being moved from France to Italy via the Mediterranean in GDI transport disguised as a civilian freighter. Nod forces boarded the ship and took its contents to Libya, where they found that the ship was carrying a valuable cargo which was on route to the eastern European frontline. That cargo would become Raveshaw's trademark weapon: the Railgun. The railgun will work a little differently tha how it did in the original game, and we'll be releasing the details in another update. Check it out below! Silenced Pistol The pistol needed an upgrade, so we've decided to model a new one based on the P22 Walther with a silencer. It resembles the alpha C&C Renegade pistol that can be found in old pre-release trailers and screenshots. We've overhauled our audio systems dramatically, and each of our weapons now have their own distance-based sounds, so the significance of silenced weapons has greatly increased. The silenced pistol is now a much more viable infiltrator weapon than it was in the original game. Grenade Launcher Our older model had some animations issues, and it wasn't to par with all of our other art. We wanted to make it pretty, like the rest of the game! The GDI Grenade launcher is a free weapon that fires explosive rounds. It's hard to top that. What more do you want? Come at me bro! Ion Cannon Beacon The Ion Cannon Beacon, nicknamed "Godsend", is GDI's way of calling down its spaced-based superweapon. All a player needs to do is purchase the beacon, plant it at the enemy base, wait a few seconds, and kablamo! Hourglass II Hourglass II is a remake of the original Hourglass with some revisions. The original Hourglass was infamous for all of its "pointwhoring" and camping, and most matches resulted in a timelimit expiry rather than base destruction. We wanted to make the map a little more fluid. We removed the major base defenses and added flying units, and we unanimously say, this level is a lot more playable now. For you oldschool RenX fans, it has the excitement of Horologe with the calculative qualities of Hourglass. We also replaced the dirt with snow. Winter is coming, so might as well get used to it now. Mesa Aaaaaand we'll end off this update with some screenshots from Mesa. source http://renegade-x.com/forums/
