The only bug I've seen with unread content is when you make a post, and then go back to browsing the forums, then go back to re-read your post (because you're weird <- you = me) and make an edit. It marks the thread as being unread.

Well it's a long-time coming honestly. No one remembered to reset it each month. However, new year, new ranks.

Welcome Community!

We're seeking High Quality, High Definition (HQ, HD) screenshots of games MPF plays. This includes any game listed under the "Games" category. Games not listed will be accepted as well.

Images should preferably not have any HUD elements on them. In the case of Renegade, you can use the "hud" console (F8) command to hide your HUD.
Images should also be of the 16:9 aspect ratio for best fit.
Post your submissions here.

These images will be used eventually here on the site as background images. There's room for 6 images. More will be chosen to have a pool of images that can be used for future backgrounds.

You might have noticed the forum-creep we had here where the forums just got bloated with too many subforums.

I have gone through the forums this morning and, with staff blessing, cleaned up this bloat/creep. There is still a little bit of work left to do regarding adding tags to topics before they get moved to their new homes.

edit: I recommend the iso's personally, not sure what the installer is. I host these, but I didn't curate the content myself. A friend curates it and it's pretty much his collection of stuff.

Thanks to @Cronus, the map ratings system we use on NewMaps now only allows the use of !like or !dislike within the first 10 minutes of gameplay.

There is no more one minute limit prevention from rating as soon as you load the map.

With this change, we hope to eliminate the "I'm losing"/"I'm winning" !dislike/!like reaction.

Actually it looks like you clicked on the ARK server by accident. However, it doesn't matter which goal you donate towards. All of it goes to the same account.

I do want to move towards a goal-based donation system though so we can gauge what servers have support.

RE: your ARK donation, I'll see if I can edit the transaction to point to the correct goal.

Hello!

With the forum upgrade last week comes an upgrade to the donation tracker. The donation tracker we are using now is built-into the software (IPS4 Core, formerly IPB) and thus has tighter integration with the rest of the software we run here. Because the software we are using is primarily a store front, it's going to request 'personal' details. However, we do not really need this info and we will be finding a way to disable the collection of this info for donators soon(TM). You may, if you wish to donate, just simply fill in dummy info if you so wish.

All-in-all, it's one extra step involved from the donator perspective.

On the maps that we 'force' it, I believe TT only edits your keys in-memory. There is no actual write-to-disk.

I say 'force' above because I don't recall TT adding a client option to disallow it.

I can't confirm any of this though, because I'm not on TT nor do I have access to their code.

Over the last month or so, I've been rewriting the veteran system to be more optimized and making some adjustments to how the whole thing works.

- Points/rank last beyond death (no longer resets upon death)

- Discounts on purchased characters (vehicle discounts coming soon)

- Changed support power: !support split between !support (Basic/Intermediate infantry) and !advsupport (Commando/Dead Six drop)

- Changed support power: !turret, !guntower, and !samsite now linked to the same timer (each have their own limits)

- Turret, Guard Tower, and SAM site limits are no longer affected by existing placements on the map

- Buy weapons with your vet points (you lose the points, but keep the rank). A list of weapons will be provided in another news release.

At the time of this post, the bounty hunter system will need a reworking as well to accommodate the changes to the veteran system.

Level name changes probably. Right now, veteran ranks are using the classic Black-Cell style veteran ranks. We plan to keep our current rank names in this new veteran system, but it will take some time to balance the long list (10+ ranks) of veteran ranks and their points for lower point values.

With this new system, we are able to customize veterancy on a map by map basis should one of our developers want to have a custom set of ranks.

Release date: Sometime after November 15, 2015

If you're seeking help for another network, there's not much we can do.

If the network in question doesn't have a HostServ service, then the only other choice is to setup your own IRC bouncer (irssi or znc are popular) on cheap VPS and set the reverse DNS to whatever you want/have control over (you can only use DNS that you have control over).

You'll need to setup wine (http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX) and launch Renegade through Wine to play on a Mac.

Note that Wine is not officially supported for Renegade. I don't know if anyone has actually tested TT 4.2 on Mac+Wine.

In case anyone was having trouble connecting to IRC over the last 24 hours, there was an outage in one of C&C IRC DNS servers due to the migration of one of our VMs. Although it is doubtful that anyone noticed because of the redundancy in DNS.

This has been fixed.

Staff resignations

Hawk, whom was providing a server for the community, is leaving for personal reasons. With him, the server will be going too. However, he is letting us continue using his server until the end of August.

Server migration

We will be performing a server migration this week onto two brand-new Limestone Networks servers. One server will be running Windows Server 2012 R2, while the other server will host two virtual machines - both Linux - for the website, Linux-based game servers, and our Subversion (SVN) repositories for our Development team.

Our current server with OVH will be cancelled this month.

The new servers will incur an increased server bill each month, but with that, we get awesome support and upgradeable servers.
